John CameronOn the weekend, I had a photo shoot with my Aunt and Uncle, and a close family friend. My Aunt and Uncle are about to have their tenth wedding anniversary, and they wanted some photos taken on the beach. They wanted to compare the photos to their engagement photos from 10 years ago. I also had a close family friend, Carly, join in on the shoot. <div>I just wanted to make sure the lighting was around sunset time, and also having the benefit of a beach landscape as a background. I tried different positions, and the shoot provided me with some lessons in the job of photography.</div><div>I only used one flash on the shoot, and I kept the f/stop down really low to give the background a less important role in the photographs. </div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsQEPkpYRKnl-Nsch3ykeB8asC0fV9fAkjg7xbDhgMqYvtygRcOTZG7Pg9ReCCsb-OIubc8y9imWPWiAD2gm_q5X9d96_1VmR_jtfS6LaLcbnXc_KBlQ3_95ssbzNHamJ4o68YUZZ06CU/s1600/_DSC0129BW.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 287px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsQEPkpYRKnl-Nsch3ykeB8asC0fV9fAkjg7xbDhgMqYvtygRcOTZG7Pg9ReCCsb-OIubc8y9imWPWiAD2gm_q5X9d96_1VmR_jtfS6LaLcbnXc_KBlQ3_95ssbzNHamJ4o68YUZZ06CU/s400/_DSC0129BW.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531776273025843074" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQA7NjW6KXpbOu19bQ1kBQZufx7RKq3Xy_7POFZhTVLAyOAB-2cOGAVqjQ19kAopRDji4RsxamrAC3j8AQE0JONKldO_Ps8iYOuccAYBO_NugvB-tULUuqJDoD1chyxnZg4TrDQl5OFc8/s1600/_DSC0054C.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 310px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQA7NjW6KXpbOu19bQ1kBQZufx7RKq3Xy_7POFZhTVLAyOAB-2cOGAVqjQ19kAopRDji4RsxamrAC3j8AQE0JONKldO_Ps8iYOuccAYBO_NugvB-tULUuqJDoD1chyxnZg4TrDQl5OFc8/s400/_DSC0054C.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531776267108598050" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSbFl9s5ahexEfL6BRtA_WArFC7nA2Hp1wnt7o-862-ixxftacOOY44UXYNEV5rHq6pp5NLPCBUWHiStcSjSB7f3SC1HDmG9kiHopEaJeIjS9VIeAdFOJ3XY66QuIODV0F0lJqN2Tkdj0/s1600/_DSC0032.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSbFl9s5ahexEfL6BRtA_WArFC7nA2Hp1wnt7o-862-ixxftacOOY44UXYNEV5rHq6pp5NLPCBUWHiStcSjSB7f3SC1HDmG9kiHopEaJeIjS9VIeAdFOJ3XY66QuIODV0F0lJqN2Tkdj0/s400/_DSC0032.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531776263159581026" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcwkvqPcAg9it5J5u_xQ7dbwpCEzB13NSDkXZM4Px2BUmgeuUgl4IpgOzcDquVdOvmdy4qnf84cmL6rRQ3-QXnTrVLaoZuaTXYUqPmhkE50U_xgef0TOsc00aBxaVia2SUmIbGBpxbu_o/s1600/_DSC0041BWC.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 246px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcwkvqPcAg9it5J5u_xQ7dbwpCEzB13NSDkXZM4Px2BUmgeuUgl4IpgOzcDquVdOvmdy4qnf84cmL6rRQ3-QXnTrVLaoZuaTXYUqPmhkE50U_xgef0TOsc00aBxaVia2SUmIbGBpxbu_o/s400/_DSC0041BWC.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531776255174102066" /></a>John Walter Cameronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13297521684523618784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422946440874398874.post-7650359243858787092010-07-30T08:43:00.001-07:002010-07-30T08:49:53.860-07:0007/30/10 - spear-fishing trip - John CameronSo I went spear-fishing with some of my buddies. I took the camera along and I got some great shots. We left around 7:30am, so that gave me the opportunity to get some good shots with the sun rising. I did some silhouettes with the sun behind the subject. I'm really starting to get into that. I think it looks awesome.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJpwHrZ2j9iFaZojSOv0LoQ7T2oHgWxW7bMdnxa2cOrfc5KLc8ROnzK38R1LFHaapEbnl8R98UxrF0I-Vx9uM-m89cji2L6QZ2f_lXmoy_coTxFyVHE7zmHk9-w2Ob-i2K9Ssq0n-m9AU/s1600/DSC_0067.jpg"><img style="display:block; I haven't had any "pro" photo shoots for a while, and I have realized that I should take my nice D-SLR to work more often (we just get wet a lot on the boat). The ocean can be so awesome with the crazy weather that rolls in. I have tried to capture some of this "awesomness" from my horrible 2 megapixel cell phone camera. John CameronToday I did a photo shoot for my girlfriend's mother. Her parents are about to have their 50th wedding Anniversary, so she wanted a family photo of herself and her three daughters. I took them down to the beach, and we had a lot of fun during the shoot. I wanted to do the shoot around 7:30pm, so I had that nice pinkish/orange sky. But they showed up early, so I had shoot them just at different locations to use up some time.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFVeqi6U6FK-iagjs-2im6RP-vE0zPGsdS4OylIyqxgGvXli_fXBIvWUMhFAJH7J6Wx6V2SoyBzsixcfWRPb_I4MzlxqSuhMCpojZhAN5HVwHBGGKqmJX1BEH7C265zHewRhYfSeR_aAM/s1600/DSC_0108.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 282px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFVeqi6U6FK-iagjs-2im6RP-vE0zPGsdS4OylIyqxgGvXli_fXBIvWUMhFAJH7J6Wx6V2SoyBzsixcfWRPb_I4MzlxqSuhMCpojZhAN5HVwHBGGKqmJX1BEH7C265zHewRhYfSeR_aAM/s400/DSC_0108.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5485421764033004786" /></a><div>I had the f stop at 5.6, so the background was a little out of focus, and the shutter speed was at 400. Hopefully I can do that again.<div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuJplM6UQXpBv2WKT9ZL9PPYRLFtDFUxcCt3zMEEuG465tkt5268taF_c6peDAREGCsaG_Z2E-JTlYuvC9FFUP_vaTS4DwdSPrMZPKJaMXuzHFflX4TgXCOsQ-R5an9FTdZvPsjnmqLxY/s1600/0505001658.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><br /></span></a><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuJplM6UQXpBv2WKT9ZL9PPYRLFtDFUxcCt3zMEEuG465tkt5268taF_c6peDAREGCsaG_Z2E-JTlYuvC9FFUP_vaTS4DwdSPrMZPKJaMXuzHFflX4TgXCOsQ-R5an9FTdZvPsjnmqLxY/s1600/0505001658.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 359px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuJplM6UQXpBv2WKT9ZL9PPYRLFtDFUxcCt3zMEEuG465tkt5268taF_c6peDAREGCsaG_Z2E-JTlYuvC9FFUP_vaTS4DwdSPrMZPKJaMXuzHFflX4TgXCOsQ-R5an9FTdZvPsjnmqLxY/s400/0505001658.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467895356073512642" /></a></div><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2LGCPIIiV3bvJpAwAb9XkKLbJ0GYHYMUZ_B6-kv84EDxs1A04jGgxhgdarJ8Mt1f5StEW1rGPkzcokNoiK2SvGU9mGBdouVN93uxbb7eHr_USHhXa0lx-z_tpvj4l7g_8KudgZKoGgV8/s1600/3b.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 238px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2LGCPIIiV3bvJpAwAb9XkKLbJ0GYHYMUZ_B6-kv84EDxs1A04jGgxhgdarJ8Mt1f5StEW1rGPkzcokNoiK2SvGU9mGBdouVN93uxbb7eHr_USHhXa0lx-z_tpvj4l7g_8KudgZKoGgV8/s400/3b.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467896021226653634" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8gUkKpOAWhqj_Rybv7j3ZjFBlEHTOlnBn9xIcffDx_7jBzIR5FZQVYN3Edz2Nfgjc2rCnGVgt7eN5cOG5SxaNc53jRMU_khAkvYhFAiL3wbnHdGZ2yRchD7Ri1MEmhL8WhbZVmavfOCY/s1600/7b.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 249px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8gUkKpOAWhqj_Rybv7j3ZjFBlEHTOlnBn9xIcffDx_7jBzIR5FZQVYN3Edz2Nfgjc2rCnGVgt7eN5cOG5SxaNc53jRMU_khAkvYhFAiL3wbnHdGZ2yRchD7Ri1MEmhL8WhbZVmavfOCY/s400/7b.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467896015878108818" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNKRjrvYGDFuuoLdxKTzGdZkEiiBfNV9loNtnwcZsA_o99uOdWFvE9PvmEc-9sx01B3dWTxv-YoRbMxR9zFPnRktxP5cEHzZ_7slgptmr17Qw0ji0rufc8uqW4nZsZ3IA947FyOo6N9uE/s1600/DSC_0220b.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 294px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNKRjrvYGDFuuoLdxKTzGdZkEiiBfNV9loNtnwcZsA_o99uOdWFvE9PvmEc-9sx01B3dWTxv-YoRbMxR9zFPnRktxP5cEHzZ_7slgptmr17Qw0ji0rufc8uqW4nZsZ3IA947FyOo6N9uE/s400/DSC_0220b.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5467896000055478834" /></a></div>John Walter Cameronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13297521684523618784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422946440874398874.post-67927480593773481152010-04-21T19:18:00.000-07:002010-04-21T20:01:09.434-07:00John Cameron. 04/21/10. Visiting Artist Paola AntonelliToday I went to the Paola Antonelli's lecture at the Grace Street Theatre. Paola Antonelli is the Senior Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design of The Museum of Modern Art. It was interesting to hear her talk. She was a very good speaker, and I learned a lot by how she went through the lecture. She had a basic powerpoint type lecture, and she spoke about each thing she did individually. Antonelli was very confident in telling us about how she makes her art successful. I think she spoke confidently for over an hour, and she backed it up with beautiful designs of art shows she created. Antonelli was very keen on the conceptual side to pieces of art. She mentioned how important it was to her, and how she thinks it makes pieces of art so much better.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrLCYVjDssg7rS1w-aEXBdgIezdOjVbzDOPhyphenhyphenTo7pBuvGR-dh0VN4rHfbSoczJqzXaIAg7LsMIrWGJ9lyIPZw5Gz2pMOKbG3Z8Fy3dTqVJfGQG5a-spx7mRGaVovg6fHOs-Atetk9vtRQ/s1600/c1img.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 305px; height: 222px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrLCYVjDssg7rS1w-aEXBdgIezdOjVbzDOPhyphenhyphenTo7pBuvGR-dh0VN4rHfbSoczJqzXaIAg7LsMIrWGJ9lyIPZw5Gz2pMOKbG3Z8Fy3dTqVJfGQG5a-spx7mRGaVovg6fHOs-Atetk9vtRQ/s400/c1img.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5462787387075169698" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Fernando and Humberto Campana. There were other versions made out of silver and gold (as pictures only I think) and she talked about how that the silver and gold cotton would not work conceptually. Gold just doesn't mix with cotton. As she said, "No". </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">I did take in a lot of her quotes in relation to art and life. She talked about how important it is to stick to your own story and to have your own presence in the world. This way you can stick out from the crowd and maybe get that job you've been looking for. She also mentioned how anger can work as a creative tool. Sometimes if you get angry about your work, it is common sense to get better from it. When I heard this quote, it reminded me of something I always say to myself, "Don't get bitter, get better". Everyone gets angry, but it's what you do to make the situation better that counts. </div>John Walter Cameronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13297521684523618784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422946440874398874.post-63311236710335741472010-04-19T10:41:00.000-07:002010-04-19T11:06:06.023-07:00John Cameron. 04/19/10. Artist Noel VasquezThis week, I have found Noel Vasquez. Like previous weeks, I have been looking for artists who are at popular sporting events. This week, the NBA playoffs started, and the I looked at the Los Angeles Lakers at <a href="http://www.gettyimages.com">www.gettyimages.com</a>. The first artist I found was Noel Vasquez. The unique thing about his images on Getty (from the Lakers game), was that every image was of famous people in the crowd. Something a little different for me, so that is why I chose him.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRYF0BH8vaxaEQZ7tNZ1OF2Qt6kq1PAg9hGTPx-hmDl82t3aokkw8uKvxUqR5FsqclN2zbJ1mlgiDwwFXga2tliCyuz9XTQ9Gx_n42A7LSJ9Qj6a7Lca5-MF5aW9yZhyphenhyphenbD89fOFewNPG8/s1600/98531662.jpg" style="text-decoration: none;"><img style="text-decoration: underline;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRYF0BH8vaxaEQZ7tNZ1OF2Qt6kq1PAg9hGTPx-hmDl82t3aokkw8uKvxUqR5FsqclN2zbJ1mlgiDwwFXga2tliCyuz9XTQ9Gx_n42A7LSJ9Qj6a7Lca5-MF5aW9yZhyphenhyphenbD89fOFewNPG8/s400/98531662.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461908504113466258" /></a><div><div><div><div style="text-align: center;">Jack Nicholson - Photograph - April 2010 - by Noel Vasquez</div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW11rzZ4UMdWB8sSRJKuHQ-h6atjV18m5QDmeY5D7WqtzF3g5vIw0Wm_rccp-fUlYOzc6NGEtYz6cAz7hpO6QIKhdtxvkhPs4xEi2izBfabtdefUuu4dzMbdeUgnhWvCXqz9j0kk5fpp4/s1600/98536176.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW11rzZ4UMdWB8sSRJKuHQ-h6atjV18m5QDmeY5D7WqtzF3g5vIw0Wm_rccp-fUlYOzc6NGEtYz6cAz7hpO6QIKhdtxvkhPs4xEi2izBfabtdefUuu4dzMbdeUgnhWvCXqz9j0kk5fpp4/s400/98536176.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5461908498231664578" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Teri Hatcher cheers at LA Lakers game - Photograph - April 2010 - by Noel Vasquez</div><div>Over the past few weeks, I have been shooting high school baseball games, and some of my fellow students have said that I should shoot some of the parents watching to game. to show emotion. Idea/Concept BlogSo I finally got in the dugout with the high school Baseball team that I have been photographing. I am become close to the Head coach of Benedictine High's baseball team, and I am proud with what I have done. My teacher Paul said he wanted me to get in the dugout, to prove to him that I can get the access, and I have now done that. It was not easy, but I kept telling myself that "I have to get in the dugout" to get the access. This pleased me, and I hope Paul appreciates it also.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5I0sLWa-HW2GK_HLcgQXkgLR6AvekyAwNQBxN93PKjjr1Vx1qwLF8HrqqNaZ-_r8yFg7QtE5k0Qb8qUdCNuQjEH7xQETf54nNV_UACiVZOt-gHK_De8er6HHiAxnTOIT1PbTexPT0E_U/s1600/DSC_0148.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 238px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5I0sLWa-HW2GK_HLcgQXkgLR6AvekyAwNQBxN93PKjjr1Vx1qwLF8HrqqNaZ-_r8yFg7QtE5k0Qb8qUdCNuQjEH7xQETf54nNV_UACiVZOt-gHK_De8er6HHiAxnTOIT1PbTexPT0E_U/s400/DSC_0148.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5460160141588725090" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Silhouetted Thoughts - Digital Photograph, April 2010. Artist Robert BeckThis week, I have found the artist Robert Beck. It is actually a cool new find for me, because I have seen his work in Sport magazines before, but I never really looked into his work. With the Masters being on the past week (golf), I wanted to find a photographer who was covering it. I looked on the masters website, and most of the images on the site were from Getty Images. So I then went to Getty, and the first name I saw was Robert Beck. I then went to his website, and looked through his beautiful style of photography.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcM96Jqgx7hQmWtK8va3tckz1dOp1CikemQWaGnDZQ10zIqV71ZP6oc7_BkzvOHri4zhu1A1r-dhfoR3va-OI5P0Npcj41wcFiOfHXm5INkrWKwJjjBwWntUFeFQI72mBFopcr3prz0JE/s1600/tiger-club-flip.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 254px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcM96Jqgx7hQmWtK8va3tckz1dOp1CikemQWaGnDZQ10zIqV71ZP6oc7_BkzvOHri4zhu1A1r-dhfoR3va-OI5P0Npcj41wcFiOfHXm5INkrWKwJjjBwWntUFeFQI72mBFopcr3prz0JE/s400/tiger-club-flip.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459646405514593778" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Tigers Woods in Practice - Digital Photograph. 2009, by Robert Beck</div><div style="text-align: left;">This is the image that I have seen before in magazines, and when I saw it, it was cool to know that I am now researching the specific artist. Whether it be silhouettes, long exposers, and looking for the unique times in sports (like the image above). For him tobe constantly looking for things like this is a true talent.</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGV86wKyQkWgzKCRJvjPxMl60_15e0dKzzLpSqtTquXTF09HozgCitkP0fEtzZ7D0eSLQvSeSq5abuvLFU3pyuMCXa4oEkg6OO4yzuK3IRyKVoHUQiNBLEKGpT1EA0enoi5B2hUICyutA/s1600/taylor-sprint2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 250px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGV86wKyQkWgzKCRJvjPxMl60_15e0dKzzLpSqtTquXTF09HozgCitkP0fEtzZ7D0eSLQvSeSq5abuvLFU3pyuMCXa4oEkg6OO4yzuK3IRyKVoHUQiNBLEKGpT1EA0enoi5B2hUICyutA/s400/taylor-sprint2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459647708323847986" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Cyclists - Digital Photograph - By Robert Beck</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJVVAebrx205tSPjD1as_wPeke9_eJZz9K210if_Gxt6vA2UJYCbO08Ic_bR_9O68cM4Drvs0mKL94xMjKn2y2OV3u4zsua93E2pz8tyIXEGTZN0DMwaH66bXAeYwOTTfT6PhW7bz5q_8/s1600/81456002.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 269px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJVVAebrx205tSPjD1as_wPeke9_eJZz9K210if_Gxt6vA2UJYCbO08Ic_bR_9O68cM4Drvs0mKL94xMjKn2y2OV3u4zsua93E2pz8tyIXEGTZN0DMwaH66bXAeYwOTTfT6PhW7bz5q_8/s400/81456002.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459647706986569394" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Digital Photograph - By Robert Beck</div><div style="text-align: left;">So the main thing I learned from Robert Beck, was to try to use different styles of photography to be different. Idea/Concept BlogTomorrow I will be shooting another baseball game. However, tomorrow's game will have a new twist to my previous High School Baseball games. I emailed the coach of the team that I have been photographing, and I asked if I could get in his dugout. I really want to get in close, and get some good shots from this view. The coach/manager replied back very quickly and he was very positive about letting me come and photograph in his dugout. I'm really excited about getting in there, and I want to focus on the close up shots that I will have access to. I will do this by making it feel as though the viewer of the photograph, feels as though they are in the dugout as well.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfFsvUKJmLO35T_wXMX9PrEnpMAcCW2wOL6W9PEAq3ISgpVxxgIUcAFyrhtlkw2XLjCR0peSHIvCP12xfY3m2-AlMnkolGg9Go7WNAGDl6z8b7J1eietQgYrKsGo4T8SO-h85VVhl7f4g/s1600/DSC_0031.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 228px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfFsvUKJmLO35T_wXMX9PrEnpMAcCW2wOL6W9PEAq3ISgpVxxgIUcAFyrhtlkw2XLjCR0peSHIvCP12xfY3m2-AlMnkolGg9Go7WNAGDl6z8b7J1eietQgYrKsGo4T8SO-h85VVhl7f4g/s400/DSC_0031.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457580424239783906" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Safe or out? - Digital photograph, March 2010 - By John Cameron</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaiPc9AiWg3r-59rkJhia6semwHUZxaSFbHB8ajKVnMQ5VuXo-RSXwW1l6KzhnjPuAw-iwrO210YJ-pWg8bGLWzkWZb9vkYpHXAjgP7xpl_SrCHAfQXHOXBUFw6bwgh-7G6mLezq6dHOo/s1600/DSC_0039.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 235px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaiPc9AiWg3r-59rkJhia6semwHUZxaSFbHB8ajKVnMQ5VuXo-RSXwW1l6KzhnjPuAw-iwrO210YJ-pWg8bGLWzkWZb9vkYpHXAjgP7xpl_SrCHAfQXHOXBUFw6bwgh-7G6mLezq6dHOo/s400/DSC_0039.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457580416945127762" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Check this out - Digital photograph, March 2010 - By John Cameron</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg3MAZkngJsM3E5LbzOgIc9db0lgcPVqDhXoETpo4b2p1reENUJMdIAG3uhYsze1Jkuhc1lfj1MOQcRzuS-x5rES3YT4rklIioXgZyt3bY_q5eL9lxmn9IdM-QnRTyphREyxTUAK0Fibk/s1600/DSC_0113.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 260px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg3MAZkngJsM3E5LbzOgIc9db0lgcPVqDhXoETpo4b2p1reENUJMdIAG3uhYsze1Jkuhc1lfj1MOQcRzuS-x5rES3YT4rklIioXgZyt3bY_q5eL9lxmn9IdM-QnRTyphREyxTUAK0Fibk/s400/DSC_0113.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457580414358665714" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Cadets - Digital photograph, March 2010 - By John Cameron</div>With the images above, I have cropped in on some images to show a different look from the obvious. Sometimes a face is not needed in a photograph, and it gives the image a small twist. I took these images last week, and I was not really trying to focus on cropping in on a unique area. But I just looked through some images, that I thought would be cool to crop in and edit. Anderson Gallery Student Exhibition. 04/05/2010This semester, our class is required to enter three competitions (like last semester). My first competition was a required one by my teachers Tom and Paul. It was at the Anderson Gallery here at our college. It is the Undergraduate Juried Design, Kinetic Imaging and Fine Arts Exhibitions from April 1 - April 18. At 907 1/2 West Franklin Street, Richmond, VA 23284. I entered two pieces from last semester. One piece got selected to be in the show. So that was a cool reward.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjepqR8obRMOGI4vuLNu2xYnIDVYNHiK0ycmlHizORmsj0q81jzFPSaTJazkarPtrKhOJoRR4R-Yg2rLh2DVmue1QFVWuhvuELizelcZ_zqbp2gcUkCp28Wu9bBlmiF1-A8f8tpHZ_Je8/s1600/9Experienced.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjepqR8obRMOGI4vuLNu2xYnIDVYNHiK0ycmlHizORmsj0q81jzFPSaTJazkarPtrKhOJoRR4R-Yg2rLh2DVmue1QFVWuhvuELizelcZ_zqbp2gcUkCp28Wu9bBlmiF1-A8f8tpHZ_Je8/s400/9Experienced.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5456817881237565202" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Experienced. After meeting with my teacher today, he recommended that I get in closer to the players to show that my work is unique. So I found the artist Dale Zanine, and I have a few of his images that show how close he is to the actual athletes. Sure, you can make it look like you're close to players with large lenses. But actually walking up to the player and getting close to them can be shown in a photograph. With the image below, I have the feeling that Zanine is on the court, and close to the basketball player. He may be on the other side of the court, crouching down really low. But he has convinced me that he is right there in front of the athlete.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUn9x_Im572FpO-dA-02awqAcQwQxttqg0ax1ADgtCUX2LsbsILXNbx6iRnw82mNvPPuEYWZRIYne388AbMCZmRsLKahVk2IkmmhBWiDYURhflZO14sKFGXLn6cHN_MCMO5i4q3F_kJIs/s1600/ncb_u_dupree1_sw_576.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUn9x_Im572FpO-dA-02awqAcQwQxttqg0ax1ADgtCUX2LsbsILXNbx6iRnw82mNvPPuEYWZRIYne388AbMCZmRsLKahVk2IkmmhBWiDYURhflZO14sKFGXLn6cHN_MCMO5i4q3F_kJIs/s400/ncb_u_dupree1_sw_576.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5456803651230308322" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Maryland Basketball players celebrate - Digital Photograph. But you still have that second thought in your head, that he could be far away, crouching down and shooting up to the subject. Also with the basketball image down at the bottom. It may be a camera mounted, and then fired by a remote source. But you still get the feeling that you are actually sitting right there underneath the hoop. This is what I want to try out. It is a cool and unique approach that I have never really thought about. </div>John Walter Cameronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13297521684523618784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422946440874398874.post-40429021947646411762010-03-31T20:40:00.000-07:002010-03-31T21:38:15.595-07:00John Cameron 03-31-10. Idea/Concept blog.So last Thursday, I went and shot a baseball game for the local high school here in my college town. I chose a school that I have been following over the past few weeks, and I'm going to stick with them for the rest of the semester. They have a game tomorrow, that I can catch, so I will have more to show next week as well. But I am trying to get in closer still. But I have to find the right time to do it. I think it is going to be around April 14th. So last week, I focused on all kinds of things. My teacher advised me to have a list to go by. Such as getting the field, subjects in different areas of the photograph, shooting in different areas etc.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd_qecDIfnHJYbxd-iCEWIjxrl8bWUxreGb_PWNDvv6_2WODb4294WVNzSAo8phX9Xzu3OyvverDOdElP26kBi__oRpt9MlUKKxiqgQmNrTjislcYIeKJa2iP0MvyrH2QEd-iDmxJCF8w/s1600/DSC_0281.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd_qecDIfnHJYbxd-iCEWIjxrl8bWUxreGb_PWNDvv6_2WODb4294WVNzSAo8phX9Xzu3OyvverDOdElP26kBi__oRpt9MlUKKxiqgQmNrTjislcYIeKJa2iP0MvyrH2QEd-iDmxJCF8w/s400/DSC_0281.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455016537269618930" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Double Play" - Digital Photograph - March 2010, By John Cameron</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHSA20VC5iRG72446j_sbyhVxPboGaBkcYanwg1wlrbOM8oL7yto9iwD3NtBasqQ_aQG096MH0K4m0z9id1I4UgNM49kuTC5e0-9DF9_ePTtWbyOg_YS86d2ZWN0ESM0dmgg7ZP8OOzW8/s1600/DSC_0176.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHSA20VC5iRG72446j_sbyhVxPboGaBkcYanwg1wlrbOM8oL7yto9iwD3NtBasqQ_aQG096MH0K4m0z9id1I4UgNM49kuTC5e0-9DF9_ePTtWbyOg_YS86d2ZWN0ESM0dmgg7ZP8OOzW8/s400/DSC_0176.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455016534496715858" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Dugout laughs" - Digital Photograph - March 2010, By John Cameron</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCNHb_XGv2c8C67aQ60MmYLpOoKJBJb2lGZkDPltvUxmUPGFCSXG1KDi8rs4s4PRKgntt3BbHl01bdxylu6CQyrKGICKLpXDEl89-V5ELe9cs89NBVhNXax7UeaB5PDxPRaknjrC-1V0I/s1600/DSC_0056.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 220px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCNHb_XGv2c8C67aQ60MmYLpOoKJBJb2lGZkDPltvUxmUPGFCSXG1KDi8rs4s4PRKgntt3BbHl01bdxylu6CQyrKGICKLpXDEl89-V5ELe9cs89NBVhNXax7UeaB5PDxPRaknjrC-1V0I/s400/DSC_0056.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455016522303177442" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Safe Slide" - Digital Photograph - March 2010, By John Cameron</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAx_BN91O8AIspRjhd5wwwv0PX7wlr8uZaVxYTm1j2CCc1C7qs3kYWN6ZMe3ks9_s_RwfFzBQeupfFv4zpr0YBYLx9bxKIJBEeXSI4t1v8XunVsL3ldgv6cuheaTrc1WXOHjrLD344T28/s1600/DSC_0027.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 294px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAx_BN91O8AIspRjhd5wwwv0PX7wlr8uZaVxYTm1j2CCc1C7qs3kYWN6ZMe3ks9_s_RwfFzBQeupfFv4zpr0YBYLx9bxKIJBEeXSI4t1v8XunVsL3ldgv6cuheaTrc1WXOHjrLD344T28/s400/DSC_0027.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455016509647507090" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Decision Time" - Digital Photograph - March 2010, By John Cameron</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgts9w0Afsyqlu5ke9nJgvPSFMNkxrOo2el5gPvcVTWSBH5trKB-JWUznrthqs7ch5JYSmw-eMyXclUDXxC-NoXt0pTkbWy9OnaZlpg4pkEoncO5H0RSNhlH-auvwYb3HB2Mu20-dgZwfU/s1600/DSC_0004.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 192px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgts9w0Afsyqlu5ke9nJgvPSFMNkxrOo2el5gPvcVTWSBH5trKB-JWUznrthqs7ch5JYSmw-eMyXclUDXxC-NoXt0pTkbWy9OnaZlpg4pkEoncO5H0RSNhlH-auvwYb3HB2Mu20-dgZwfU/s400/DSC_0004.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5455016501018728818" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Hyman Field" - Digital Photograph - March 2010, By John Cameron</div><div style="text-align: left;">I liked what I got, but in order for me to really impress my teacher. There is a game tomorrow once again, and I'm going to try and shoot that, to capture emotion, and also different environments. The team I follow is playing away tomorrow, and I look forward to the new environment that I will face. Maybe I can get in a little closure to the dugout. This week I have found Cameron Spencer. He photographed my favorite Rugby League Football team the Wests Tigers last friday night, and I wanted to look more into his work. I could not find his website, but he has a lot of his images online with getty images. He has won awards with Getty images, and I'll show some of those images.<div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhszbB-tgekZiogw-G27MbiBjO6Fk5tqkHfPy-CLYcSwxijshYpprXreeDYbJappcjq1OVYXcKvD16LciQb_V5PRB-QBSkrksJvxJUwUxyqloWm9-JYwoX5JnG0lj2xkgViIIlDFPdSAM0/s1600/00026974-SPY--018.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 276px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhszbB-tgekZiogw-G27MbiBjO6Fk5tqkHfPy-CLYcSwxijshYpprXreeDYbJappcjq1OVYXcKvD16LciQb_V5PRB-QBSkrksJvxJUwUxyqloWm9-JYwoX5JnG0lj2xkgViIIlDFPdSAM0/s400/00026974-SPY--018.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454614570674359682" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">U.S.A swimmers celebrate Gold Medal win - Digital Photograph - 2008 - Cameron Spencer</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRu1LRpZdjbqQkYM2np57obfFObn9lJ1VMjCFKq6x7ICyCPNdYsw4cbVlpbDmdpIYDtzBnNxN1Ne_tilOQIiXpSmIK1RgJcJEWcXchumY32KPjwm0fnIUnGeQDz4v49zfgLd885j6Ewa8/s1600/00026974-SPY--014.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 274px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRu1LRpZdjbqQkYM2np57obfFObn9lJ1VMjCFKq6x7ICyCPNdYsw4cbVlpbDmdpIYDtzBnNxN1Ne_tilOQIiXpSmIK1RgJcJEWcXchumY32KPjwm0fnIUnGeQDz4v49zfgLd885j6Ewa8/s400/00026974-SPY--014.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454614563380839202" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Australian Soccer players - Digital Photograph - By Cameron Spencer</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg25jgunhkclM9maJDajrhBwjqq8z72Dw1EUv0FM5q9wTKFPyVzqjbfyRHjJPHWGcYN4QMzrbkDtFgD_XCl2fT-WWxptjyNDWQh_7V7xCp-TlGpSYiMIKXn4iKsZ1ct0huDAsY7N0uIHJs/s1600/00026974-SPY--012.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg25jgunhkclM9maJDajrhBwjqq8z72Dw1EUv0FM5q9wTKFPyVzqjbfyRHjJPHWGcYN4QMzrbkDtFgD_XCl2fT-WWxptjyNDWQh_7V7xCp-TlGpSYiMIKXn4iKsZ1ct0huDAsY7N0uIHJs/s400/00026974-SPY--012.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5454614553153778690" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Table Tennis player - Digital Photograph. Spencer really shows a diverse range of angles of capturing these moments. He is either up high, looking down on the action, or down low, looking up. He also has a conceptual side to his work, where he will find the moments that look different and capture them. Idea/Concept BlogSo Spring Break came at a bad time for me, as it may have for everyone else. So I was a little bit worried about my plan to capture a season long story with a high school baseball team. But my teacher gave me some good advice as always, and advised me that I did not need to be around for the whole season to capture a story. He still wants me to get closer to the team. Like getting access to the dugout, or a bus ride to an away game for example. I am going to try and do this, but first, I am going to shoot a few of high school baseball games of one high school. I can show the coach and players my images, and hopefully they will let me in from this.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijOPKCRwswBE12eOo5QXl_e08LX5XpC0WY2vXYpjD4U9hiS15eTG72gAWzoiE3KjEzFn-SXl56nNIb0SSfajaNaXFZZ5h1RbItSfZZ_lyLH477Rmk4PRzVt1ZEuhIhPHnLseukp5yWMi4/s1600/bDSC_0153.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 296px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijOPKCRwswBE12eOo5QXl_e08LX5XpC0WY2vXYpjD4U9hiS15eTG72gAWzoiE3KjEzFn-SXl56nNIb0SSfajaNaXFZZ5h1RbItSfZZ_lyLH477Rmk4PRzVt1ZEuhIhPHnLseukp5yWMi4/s400/bDSC_0153.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452362173592271554" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Deep Thoughts" - Digital Photograph. But my teacher wants me to get in closer. To prove to him that I was able to get access, and to get the up close and personal shots. I'm looking at getting a press pass, so I can get in the dugout, or on the bus ride and hopefully this will let me get some good shots. Artist Matt BlythSo it is the end of my spring break, and I got to photograph some baseball games played between some high schools in my home town. I mainly tried to focus on emotion, and I found that smiling, and being upset were two of the main trends in emotion at the games I went to. <div>I'm originally from Australia, and the National Rugby League season just started last week (kind of like the NFL). I grew up loving this so much, and it is hard to keep track without being able to watch games on television, and also have sports shows like ESPN to keep me updated on league news. So I basically visit the NRL website everyday. It has the basic format of a main photograph on the main page. I always examine the photograph and see what took part in making the image (available light, ISO, aperture, emotion, action etc). But yesterday and today, the main photograph on the site was of emotions.</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL01d0Kxjx3oqnkfnUsLK8b_snoNDO6tWUnM1b9PeAuU134lnHqbCnK_Bao86z5yodb5K1GZ4HGcHyRQ7ae1WW2N_czw9nvzbLvqnuoZPXNgOfC28ZALFpmOyND8fI6hZCQgDdwVJhyphenhyphennY/s1600-h/97909409.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 270px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL01d0Kxjx3oqnkfnUsLK8b_snoNDO6tWUnM1b9PeAuU134lnHqbCnK_Bao86z5yodb5K1GZ4HGcHyRQ7ae1WW2N_czw9nvzbLvqnuoZPXNgOfC28ZALFpmOyND8fI6hZCQgDdwVJhyphenhyphennY/s400/97909409.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451268949006095410" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Parramatta Eels celebrate, March 2010. Digital Photograph by Matt Blyth</div><div style="text-align: left;">This is not the image that was on the main page, but it is very close. I could not find the photographer who took the photograph. When I find an image that I like from someone. I usually search in Getty Images. This time I found Matt Blyth, and his style was interesting to me because he had a style that I tried to use while I was taking photographs at the baseball games last week. That is capturing the game <i>and</i> emotion. Emotion is a huge part to the assignment, and Matt Blyth does this. I could not find a website for Matt Blyth, but I looked over his images in Getty, and I learned some techniques that I intend to also capture. It seems as though he is at a low angle, having a nice background in his images. This is something I will try to incorporate in my work over the next few weeks.</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSnRgOBq6FRVcvlQc27yc2fvdCblLfvPL8T63-_dACPpjxcRB_gAn9zVFleySLB0iRAhsIHabcPlTvxOCsSRoNpMc5JOXIrh1jf_U1LhAqc1FNzrlCMF5GhTfIEwJTFjd51OJFbSytqtY/s1600-h/97909378.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 275px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSnRgOBq6FRVcvlQc27yc2fvdCblLfvPL8T63-_dACPpjxcRB_gAn9zVFleySLB0iRAhsIHabcPlTvxOCsSRoNpMc5JOXIrh1jf_U1LhAqc1FNzrlCMF5GhTfIEwJTFjd51OJFbSytqtY/s400/97909378.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451270625699086594" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Luke Burt, March 2010. Sanford Biggers was a delight to listen to. Just the way he informed the audience about his work, and other aspects of life, made me realize how a successful critique/lecture should go. I also appreciated his work ethic, as most others do too. You can tell how hard he works for his pieces of art, and it glows through his lectures. After all of the visiting artist lectures I have attended, this is definitely one of my favorites.</span></span></span><div><div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2MLb237O_iH4QDGY4-CgXAa-dF3yh9_oN4R__tbqKEOWuy09kouRYniYCoLAgUy73oaLTBGVtNkGkVz20ZiTq23ursAsqHwy5LknqS7wVzWJboXoFl_hexWNkOBtWYuM2T1gSJ6gYAXQ/s1600-h/biggers2-prayerrug.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 301px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2MLb237O_iH4QDGY4-CgXAa-dF3yh9_oN4R__tbqKEOWuy09kouRYniYCoLAgUy73oaLTBGVtNkGkVz20ZiTq23ursAsqHwy5LknqS7wVzWJboXoFl_hexWNkOBtWYuM2T1gSJ6gYAXQ/s400/biggers2-prayerrug.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447782267406642690" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 26px; "><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FFFFFF;">Sanford Biggers, Prayer Rug, 2005, Colored sand poured unfixed directly on floor, 40 ft x 20 ft. at Triple Candie, New York.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 20px; font-family:georgia, serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FFFFFF;">This piece was a stand out because of the precise work done to create a rug out of sand. I think the fact that he is an art teacher helped him. Also the fact that he used to teach here at VCU. The main thing about Bigger's work, is that it seems as though he works at 110% towards every piece. You can see all the hard efforts that he puts in to his work. He is a multi skilled artist and he can do anything very well and I wish that I could have half of the skills he has. I liked how he was starting to take photographs of his work in the end, with style. I liked his technique. For someone who doesn't specialize in photography, he showed the artistic eye in a lot of his images. As far as cropping out, and using a low aperture. It showed that being a smart artist is all you need to be able to succeed in any aspect of art.</span></span></div></span><br /></div></div></div>John Walter Cameronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13297521684523618784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422946440874398874.post-51941977071973301782010-03-10T16:58:00.000-08:002010-03-10T17:35:07.606-08:00John Cameron. 03/10/10. Idea/Concept BlogSo I went out to Benedictine High School's second scrimmage match, against Deep Run High School. The game started at 4:30pm, and I learned my lesson, by leaving at 4:15pm. The highway traffic in Richmond is busy around that time and I showed up late. It wasn't like I was late for work, but I was late for the good light that was available earlier on. So I was forced to bump up the ISO to 1600. I still really enjoyed the experience, and got to figure out where I need to be to take some good shots.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUEno5yNBnFrthf9rEMzp_JVgn3R1XNLuRJ-dB0lUGdh4IMh0MdcRLASDNpJE2O5iaZKOJACjRLunKSACwgG_lTD3u-PBqak2exhJGJNRyDmmV8JaTaFbCSuEuqq6LTltvlvYSbtA_2hE/s1600-h/DSC_0012.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 279px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUEno5yNBnFrthf9rEMzp_JVgn3R1XNLuRJ-dB0lUGdh4IMh0MdcRLASDNpJE2O5iaZKOJACjRLunKSACwgG_lTD3u-PBqak2exhJGJNRyDmmV8JaTaFbCSuEuqq6LTltvlvYSbtA_2hE/s400/DSC_0012.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447178401028776178" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Strike 3 Expression" - Digital Photograph, March 2010. By John Cameron</div><div style="text-align: left;">The image above was my favorite for the shoot. It's nothing special, but there's something about it that I really enjoy. I think that you can really feel his emotion by getting a strike out. This is what I will be looking for in the semester. Spring break is next week, and it's almost come at the wrong time. I'm going back to my home town for a week, and I will miss a lot of Benedectine's games (like 3 or 4). However, they do have two home games this saturday, and I am going to stay in town for an extra day, just to capture that. It will be during day time, and the lighting should be a lot better. I want my images to be smooth and clean, and my camera isn't the best camera to use an ISO of 1600. I'll really study the diamond also, to see where I can shoot from. I will be at the home field of Benedictine a lot, so Saturday will also be a learning experience. I don't want to shoot through a fence, and I need to be near the dug out. This is where a lot of emotion is found.</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlYMTs1aI0s3xjEuRaodm0QimhLVYtOHapropMvuOEDUfSl3Z-HrFfJHZGnitpO-9uBOodrlGVY9iBgar65oGXuc2nsJeY8TmxWFQ-UwSBJez1qU4tU1aZgjiDdAjDcbwZ_veXSMyOrJQ/s1600-h/DSC_0095.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 292px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlYMTs1aI0s3xjEuRaodm0QimhLVYtOHapropMvuOEDUfSl3Z-HrFfJHZGnitpO-9uBOodrlGVY9iBgar65oGXuc2nsJeY8TmxWFQ-UwSBJez1qU4tU1aZgjiDdAjDcbwZ_veXSMyOrJQ/s400/DSC_0095.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447182419633685922" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Stealing Base?" - Digital Photograph, March 2010. The image above was the first one that I found, and I was glued in immediately. Her tight crop, the sharp focus on the subject, and the action of the player gave a lot of meaning to the photograph. The type of feeling, where a person is doing their job. I looked into more of Blumenfeld's work on her website, and I really liked the lay out of her website. She focuses on all the moments in sports, like most sports photographers. But there was a section that I really liked on her website. It was the "Game day" section. This showed athletes before the game, and the emotions were shown on their faces. This is something I might try out. A few photographs way before the game. When the players show up to the field and such.</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqYMLiIB58Ig2qJBak6GivK188ZqkLfK9Ap_Xnzzi2ZefLTAKXtFoWbLeM9zGnIl_0MIFAlogHBMKkpPnQ_NESrb4eR2ANhclUGgVjeev9P4q3cv8gaxUsbrlnWfw1I45jApBYOgJivCA/s1600-h/82236266.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 315px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqYMLiIB58Ig2qJBak6GivK188ZqkLfK9Ap_Xnzzi2ZefLTAKXtFoWbLeM9zGnIl_0MIFAlogHBMKkpPnQ_NESrb4eR2ANhclUGgVjeev9P4q3cv8gaxUsbrlnWfw1I45jApBYOgJivCA/s400/82236266.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446095630112537218" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Terrell Owens. Idea/Concept blog.So I have not been able to photograph the baseball team yet, due to rain and also having the fact that I practice on the college rugby team three days a week. But I had a mid term critique today and I really thought that it was great and beneficial for me. I thought the critique went well because I really liked the feedback I got from the class. A lot of good ideas were thrown out that I totally agreed with. I do not think that there was one comment that I didn't agree with. This was great, as this critique has helped me out so much. Now, it is all up to me to get the work done. Some of the major points that I wrote down were that I have to separate myself from other sports photographers that might also be shooting high school baseball. I can do this by getting to know the baseball team, and being able to get up close and personal with them. From this, I might be able to get shots that other people cannot get (locker room, dug out, bus etc.). Also, I can borrow really nice equipment from an internship job that I did for two semesters. This can provide me with being able to shoot wherever I want. It could be up close, or far away. Having nice lenses can help me with this.<div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCkyn4_HBR4bvgrOU6vWY7NUSlAHqbKijbmVci5f7fzbtapY9BMW_QBsl2vlN04Q-Os76uY-HpzFqCLTJdkx66eUCpCghLtqLBco5a_mC265CoFXHrD_kqPtxmEJBg2Mb2tWsopBlc8Lk/s1600-h/DSC_0011b.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCkyn4_HBR4bvgrOU6vWY7NUSlAHqbKijbmVci5f7fzbtapY9BMW_QBsl2vlN04Q-Os76uY-HpzFqCLTJdkx66eUCpCghLtqLBco5a_mC265CoFXHrD_kqPtxmEJBg2Mb2tWsopBlc8Lk/s400/DSC_0011b.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444577295692696482" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Emptiness" - Digital Photograph, March 2010. It's gonna be fun, and a tough journey at the same time.</div></div><br /></div>John Walter Cameronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13297521684523618784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6422946440874398874.post-87745990873023413932010-02-28T19:07:00.000-08:002010-02-28T20:00:20.463-08:00John Cameron. 02-07-10. I found the artist Peter Diana this week, and he has a lot of nice images containing a lot of emotion. I really like his choice of backgrounds in his images. His photographs involve a person, who looks like he is in a deep train of thought. This is what I'm trying to do also. Peter Diana, has a lot of emotion type photographs on his website, but it was a little tricky to find some that I could post on here. But I found a few to show you what I'm talking about.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv900XG2wO0O9gYKk8Bjg8nbtdsy7AXosJ9L7MQt4Y66_qIATynECzk2eTtoBUV2ajnKKqDO7tsMxq1miQfNl-8MWG-RfI47JgM_q2-kXWsPrOqpgZxsV8lXWIOvlKxQl6weeL_V6Lcrs/s1600-h/20090908pdpirates0907a_500.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 299px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv900XG2wO0O9gYKk8Bjg8nbtdsy7AXosJ9L7MQt4Y66_qIATynECzk2eTtoBUV2ajnKKqDO7tsMxq1miQfNl-8MWG-RfI47JgM_q2-kXWsPrOqpgZxsV8lXWIOvlKxQl6weeL_V6Lcrs/s400/20090908pdpirates0907a_500.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5443504307439692818" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Pittsburgh Pirates manager John Russell - Digital Photograph, September 2009. By Peter Diana</div><div>I know that I'm mainly focusing on emotion, but I need to divide the categories of emotion. This week, I'm looking at coaches of teams. Seeing where and what they are doing. What are they thinking about to do better? A lot can be told from these photographs. I remember when I did my internship at basketball games, that my boss would always tell me to focus on the coach too. To also not forget about the coach because they are so important and they always show a lot of emotion. I really like the position of the coach in this image, although a lot of information is blurred about from a low aperture, you are still drawn into the coach. When I shot my basketball game a few weeks ago, I wondered if doing too much work in photoshop could ruin a real life sporting image. But I think a little work was done here to improve highlights and shadows (maybe even blur). So I will use these tools too, because it's visually pleasing to me at least.</div></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiVtX9aYM8I41zaSRnHvJ_Qsla5O_TDzbJlq57skoJcfcA0yE7mrhJfuTiSyoQCGjC9bJ2UKReCBS8-VxoXUOMeo6mTUtVuTW-NuEraDBV2MFycdE_olqu__yV4jZa_j1QzeShlL3m0xs/s1600-h/20090907brk_pd_pirates_6_500.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiVtX9aYM8I41zaSRnHvJ_Qsla5O_TDzbJlq57skoJcfcA0yE7mrhJfuTiSyoQCGjC9bJ2UKReCBS8-VxoXUOMeo6mTUtVuTW-NuEraDBV2MFycdE_olqu__yV4jZa_j1QzeShlL3m0xs/s400/20090907brk_pd_pirates_6_500.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5443507299062912114" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Pittsburgh Pirates manager John Russell - Digital Photograph, September 2009. He mentioned the fact about basketball season ending soon, and how it might be good to focus on a sport that is getting ready to start. I said Baseball, and we agreed on something like that. Paul said that I should focus on a season long goal of capturing the beginning to the end. Firstly, by showing try-outs early on (photographs of emotions of struggling in try outs, missing the list/team etc). Then by going on through the season. Once again focusing on emotion. Try-outs to make it into a team can be brutal, and showing emotion can be beautiful. It sounds like a lot of fun. Paul also recommended maybe taking photographs of other things instead of players. Like maybe the team list (with the names that made the team) and other things like sports bags, tape, shoes, etc.</span></span></div></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp_FdZJZRVyVuRLFWMIVPSVwYPLuEimw_o-TEjeFXe1SkkxQhY-D_OZ0H4kn7rJaiEEsqX_LuRWZ2n0Y486owBbUzwcb8Am3F9MkEMzf4NVM9l0czHnuESRUoBFu2gCJQU6JG4INMn65g/s1600-h/LCS-FULL-PG-PHOTOS_final-2-416x575.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 289px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp_FdZJZRVyVuRLFWMIVPSVwYPLuEimw_o-TEjeFXe1SkkxQhY-D_OZ0H4kn7rJaiEEsqX_LuRWZ2n0Y486owBbUzwcb8Am3F9MkEMzf4NVM9l0czHnuESRUoBFu2gCJQU6JG4INMn65g/s400/LCS-FULL-PG-PHOTOS_final-2-416x575.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442024671913299154" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 17px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">Miguel Cabrera #24 and coach Andy Van Slyke #18 of the Detroit Tigers. <span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:georgia, Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif;">Digital Photograph. 2009 - by Brad Mangin</span></span></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia, Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" line-height: 17px;font-size:medium;">I went ahead and called the athletic director of the local high school I have become close to. I came across a blog from Andrew Weber, where he documented how he shot a football game. There was photographs of the actual game taking place, and also photographs of the athletes outside of the game. These photographs were interesting to me, and they are exactly what I have been looking for.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi00oPZSs18fiOxEGBFhyphenhyphenDwtMOWDUDZ2SoYLmwaSEadrpFZu90OxqMaQfe_bUmkhzAfJpASnAdsiy9O2zZG7R2j6wQL2kotyiUZveg3ZIsyLpp2WTbyooCY476LJaGOv51wTKQD68Px04o/s1600-h/aw2_3971.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 256px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi00oPZSs18fiOxEGBFhyphenhyphenDwtMOWDUDZ2SoYLmwaSEadrpFZu90OxqMaQfe_bUmkhzAfJpASnAdsiy9O2zZG7R2j6wQL2kotyiUZveg3ZIsyLpp2WTbyooCY476LJaGOv51wTKQD68Px04o/s400/aw2_3971.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5440907652886628914" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Motor City Bowl, Central Michigan vs Florida Atlantic. Digital Photograph</div><div style="text-align: left;">The thing that I learned from Weber, was that he gets the good shots because he is constantly moving around. He does not stay in the one spot. I went and shot a basketball game last week, and I made the mistake of staying in the one spot. I need to move around to get different angles, and different scenes to capture diversity and interesting photographs. Weber talked about how he was leaving the media room, and how he saw the athletes walking back up the tunnel to get ready for the big game. So he whipped his camera out and got some shots. Something simple and easy to do.</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHXhpGX8Y1JRif9mYUcBjpLnJJxyurTp6k_nfKiH2kvaFXiT3B0lvYnY03MG3Ff9Hd9YQ9yQ_9ezg5wGMmsnuJRVFgRyfjuT7FnzJQjGkkxMwMxVV8yKlMIC1d8-ZQCbfn-nvb8DTEZFQ/s1600-h/aw2_4024.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 274px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHXhpGX8Y1JRif9mYUcBjpLnJJxyurTp6k_nfKiH2kvaFXiT3B0lvYnY03MG3Ff9Hd9YQ9yQ_9ezg5wGMmsnuJRVFgRyfjuT7FnzJQjGkkxMwMxVV8yKlMIC1d8-ZQCbfn-nvb8DTEZFQ/s400/aw2_4024.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5440908886344669346" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">Motor City Bowl, Central Michigan vs Florida Atlantic. By John Cameron</div>So I went out to a High School Basketball game Monday night, and I photographed the night away. It was fun and I learned a lot. I showed up about 20 minutes before the Senior Varsity game, to see the Junior Varsity game. This "JV" game went on for ages, and the game was decided after four overtimes. This gave me plenty of time to adjust the lighting settings that I wanted. From the get go, I knew that it was going to be tough, because the gym didn't provide much light for such quick movements. But I told myself that I wanted to focus on emotions, maybe from the bench, or from celebrating a good moment in the game. For this semester, I want to focus on emotions, so the viewer can really look into the photograph and think about what the person is doing.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-zsdNUzftjgP7WDFx6fnUJq-xEa_0nsKLpSNX3Hd6fuPslgR5nnAvfGCohUB6uHN5B6JBLxZOHk2K98lZvYSQhxFXhUIHAj3WxQckY6DSONCgFFgXAPfCaLXaFboBwnjSN3ylBjkotQ8/s1600-h/DSC_0048.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-zsdNUzftjgP7WDFx6fnUJq-xEa_0nsKLpSNX3Hd6fuPslgR5nnAvfGCohUB6uHN5B6JBLxZOHk2K98lZvYSQhxFXhUIHAj3WxQckY6DSONCgFFgXAPfCaLXaFboBwnjSN3ylBjkotQ8/s400/DSC_0048.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5439266477116651026" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"This is fun" - Digital Photograph, February 2010 - by John Cameron</div><div style="text-align: left;">With the image above, these junior varsity players just witnessed one of their team mates sink a three pointer on the buzzer to send the game into the fourth overtime. When you look into the image, you can see laughter, positive feelings, and it shows that these boys are having a really good time. I liked this angle of the players, but after driving home, I thought about what I could do to get some better shots. There was plenty of room in the grand stands behind the players, so next time I might go behind the bench to get some photographs of the coach talking to his team during a timeout. I talked to the athletic director of Benedictine High School, and he said that the coach was fine with me going to their practices, and a home game this Sunday. So I'll be hopefully posting more images next week. I might even try to get into a locker room.</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6QLN7pyfetv0Cbuwy8cmqSlnk0roFnZZzAch-P3KvZpGnYczlB3OWBIFisOPs8VeGmAOOSQIP6awMs0bz559oU4n-dRtX154hUJldhmql6EJXuddRL971743wU4cEmEQSd20VPOPKRqQ/s1600-h/DSC_0201.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 247px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6QLN7pyfetv0Cbuwy8cmqSlnk0roFnZZzAch-P3KvZpGnYczlB3OWBIFisOPs8VeGmAOOSQIP6awMs0bz559oU4n-dRtX154hUJldhmql6EJXuddRL971743wU4cEmEQSd20VPOPKRqQ/s400/DSC_0201.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5439269261829870690" /></a><div style="text-align: center;">"Timeout" - Digital Photograph, February 2009. However, at Hank Willis Thomas' lecture, he spoke very well, made the crowd laugh a few times, and spoke very confidently about how he has done his work. I believe this helped his art to be looked at with an easier understanding. To let us students relate to his work in a easier fashion. I know a lot of students are worried about the real world after we graduate, and it felt good to hear him talk about how he went through the same thing. Like how he graduated from his under graduate studies, and then tried to be a photographer assistant. This didn't work out for him and he felt like he had no ambition. So he tried the option of graduate school. These are the things I wanted to hear from a professional who has done so well over the past few years. I wanted to hear that professionals, that make good money, also struggled when they were fresh out of college.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">I didn't really feel as though I had any connection to the type of work he does. But I am interested in trying out the style of erasing writing, or words that might be in photographs. As it leaves the viewer guessing about what the image may be about. Overall, one of my favorite lectures so far. www.hankwillisthomas.com</span></span></div></div></span><br /></div>John Walter Cameronhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13297521684523618784noreply@blogger.com0
